Before establishing her studio in San Diego, Sara Plaisted spent 15 years working alongside award winning design teams on high end luxury residential projects and hospitality spaces including the Ritz-Carlton DTLA, Staples Center, Hyatt Santa Barbara and The Vintage Club in Indian Wells.
From cozy and efficient ADUs to whole home remodels and new builds of +10,000 square feet, every project has its own character, and each one is met with the same level of detail, precision and craftsmanship.
Some of her projects have been featured in Luxe Magazine, LOCALE San Diego and San Diego Home and Garden. Sara has also contributed her design expertise to Apartment Therapy, The Spruce and Fixr. As a LEED certified designer and panelist speaker at Dwell on Design, Sara brings a longstanding commitment to sustainable and intentional design to every project.

from the beginning
Sara has always been an observer. A listener. Endlessly curious about human behavior, history, psychology and how people create spaces that reflect who they are and how they live. That fascination eventually led her to design, where her observations become intention, and ideas are translated into the spaces people call home.
when design theory became personal
Sara's second career began with a bit of a hiccup. Just as she moved to Los Angeles to start her design career, she was diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly, everything she had studied about sustainability was brought into hyper focus. This was personal. She became acutely aware of everything around her. How colors and lighting made her feel anxious or relaxed. Whether materials in her home were toxic or not. The way her space either caused micro-annoyances or made her life easier. How she just wanted to look out of the window and watch the trees and moving clouds, and listen to birds, because that made her feel better.
From that moment, her why became clear.

That experience of health and home has stayed with Sara, and it shapes what she does today, and why she wants to help others live a happy, healthy life. She designs beautiful, intentional spaces for real people and the everyday moments that matter most. It is a point of view built from lived experience, and it informs every decision she makes.
